Autumn 1 - Years 5s exciting first term back!
What a thrilling first term Year 5 has had since returning to school! The children have truly dived headfirst into a variety of engaging activities and rich topics that have sparked their creativity and curiosity.
One of the highlights has been our focus on storytelling. The class has created mythical stories inspired by the characters and settings we developed together. It has been delightful to see their imaginative minds at work as they crafted tales filled with fantastical elements and adventurous plots. Their enthusiasm for storytelling has really brought the classroom to life!
In mathematics, Year 5 have been building upon their addition and subtraction skills from Year 4. This term, they have successfully navigated the complexities of numbers, boldly tackling tens of thousands and hundreds of thousands! Watching the children's confidence grow as they handle larger numbers has been incredibly.
Our Religious Education topic has been equally enriching, as we delved into the fascinating world of Judaism. The pupils engaged in thoughtful whole-class discussions that allowed them to explore and appreciate diverse beliefs and practices.
In history, we ignited our interest in mythical stories through the lens of Anglo-Saxon tales. This exploration naturally led us to discuss the invaders and settlers who shaped Britain after the Romans. It was intriguing to see how the history of the Anglo-Saxons intertwines with the myths we read, providing a rich context for understanding our past.
To culminate our studies, the class designed and crafted beautiful carvings out of clay, expressing their learning in a tangible and artistic way. Overall, Year 5's first term back has been infused with creativity, learning, and excitement, setting a fantastic tone for the rest of the year!
